Around town.......

For those of you who have heard and those of you who haven't, Nashville and surrounding areas were hit with torrential rains and massive flooding over the weekend.  Fortunately, Murfressboro did not sustain much damage and we are okay. ( We did rush the building of the Ark, just in case!)  They are making a tremendous effort to help everyone who was affected and get everything back on track as fast as they can.

On a lighter note,  I was looking at cottages in one of my favorite magazines and realized we had some great cottages here and thought I would show you some of them.  Soooo, here are some of my favorites!

The next 3 cottages belong to good friends and customers of ours.

This first one belongs to a top real estate agent and part time designer. It is as cute on the inside as it is on the outside and his garden has also been a stop on the secret garden tour.

This next one is owned by a wonderful friend and previous dealer in our store.  It was built in 1888 and we would kill to see the inside!

This last one is owned by a long time customer and is as adorable on the inside as it is on the outside.

She graciously invited us over to see the inside a while back and it was fabulous!  When I told her I was going to put her house on the blog she said I was welcome to come over and take pictures of the inside since a lot of her things have come from our store.  I'm very excited and will be doing that for a future post.

Last Dance.........

 As bittersweet as Friday night was for me, it was wonderful for my 18 year old daughter who was experiencing in her opinion, the second best event of her senior year, PROM!  She is the last of my 3children to graduate High School!  (Tales of her 2 older brothers will be left for another day!)  She was a little sad to realize this was the last time she would attend this magical event but totally excited about getting ready to move on to the next and last milestone of her high school career, graduation!  10 more days and counting!  I know I'm her mom and a tad bit prejudiced, but I thought she was beautiful and couldn't resist showing you a few pictures of her, her wonderful boyfriend of 2 years and last but not least, the dress she has vowed to keep forever!

They grow up so fast!

A secret, don't tell.......

 Today, I thought I'd let you in on a little secret.  My business partner and best friend, (sorry, no names, have to protect the innocent,) has an obsession! Sometimes she thinks about it a lot and sometimes, not at all.  Sometimes she gets in her car and starts to drive there, but, most of the time she comes to her senses and turns around and goes home.  But, there are those times when she goes all the way..........to the bakery! 

She's obsessed with that little thing called a cupcake!

Hope this makes her and you feel good, (without the calories!)

Honestly, don't we all love our homes?  They are our safe havens, our cozy nests, and our warm retreats.

Is yours green or brown?

Here in Murfreesboro, it looks like spring has finally arrived!  Did this not seem like the longest winter ever!  The bradford pears are blooming and the daffodils are up and  reaching for the sun!  From past experience, it appears that my thumb is not green, but brown, which dashes all hopes of my ever having a beautiful garden of my own.  Therefore, I am left to enjoy the results of other people's hard work in their gardens.  If I did have a garden of my own, I would love it to look like the ones below.

Things left behind........

We didn't make it to the flea market this weekend, thought I might go today but once again, the weather was rainy and I couldn't make myself get out there in the wet and mud! So, instead, I will show you some of the great stuff we found last time that didn't make it home with us.  Who says you can't find cool stuff at the flea!

                                                                                          

We loved all of these things, but, you never know what you will come accross.  The good, the bad, and the ugly!

Are you sitting down........

Here I am sitting in my favorite chair all comfy and cozy, trying to figure out what to write about and this may be silly, but I love this chair!  It's big and it's red with round, fat, arms, a high back, 4 little feet and oh soooo comfortable!  Considering, he's (I think the chair is a he!) the ripe old age of 16, he looks pretty darn good! Now, I'm  not saying he doesn't have any flaws, I know I do, but, that's another story for another time!
There's a little rip on his left shoulder that gets covered with a seasonal throw, and one of his little feet (very little feet for such a big chair,)  falls off whenever you move him.  But, other then that, perfection!!!  I adopted him from St. Vincent's, a thrift store in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I was wandering around the store one day and there he was, in a long row of sad, lonely furniture all putting their best faces(seats?) forward, hoping to find a warm, loving home. What's a girl to do?  He was calling out to me and I had to save him!  Of course, he had no price so I had to hunt down someone to find out what to do.  A little man came over and looked at him and looked back at me and said  "I guess you can have it for $10.00."  Sounds good right?  No, not good!  I had a problem, last stop of the day and I only had $7.00 left.  All I could do was ask and hope and yes, done deal!  We've lived happily together ever since!
I guess, now, all that's left is to show you a picture of my favorite chair!
