12:00 midnight........

Happy New Year everybody!  It's officially 2011 here in Tennessee!
I hope this year brings you nothing but happiness, good times and lots of
fabulous inspiration!

Till next time.....
Rebecca

P.S.  I just noticed that the date and time says Friday, Dec. 31, 10:25.  It really is after midnight here, that must be the time I logged on but didn't start till midnight.  Was totally chicken to hit the delete and start over! Too many disasters have happened when I thought it was easy and I knew what I was doing!

White..........

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  We got a special treat, we had SNOW! Not enough to  bring everything to a screeching halt like a lot of places around us, just enough to make it  beautiful! It started Christmas day and lasted till Monday night. Just light flurries that covered the ground and gave everything a beautiful, white frosting.  The other bonus the snow brought was  that the day after rush to the after Christmas sales was great, no crowds!  Here whenever it snows, no matter how light, people freak out and stay home!   Makes it nice for the rest of us who have lived where it REALLY SNOWS!  I lived in Green Bay, WI for 3 years.  Now, that's some snow!  We loved our time there, it is a well kept secret how wonderful it is up there!  Since we didn't get all that much snow here, these photos are what I would have liked it to look like, at least for a little while!

Mittens for Christmas........

Just got in a little while ago from trying to finish up my Christmas shopping.  Almost done!  Christmas stockings and mittens are a couple of my favorite things. I love decorating with them during the Holidays.  Here is a couple of samples of the mittens I make and have given as gifts and sold at the store.

I also make them in white with white or silver ribbon but don't have any unpacked this year.

Happy Holidays!

Till next time......

Around The House.......Christmas

Christmas is getting closer and closer, is it time to panic yet? I haven't done much decorating this year, have had a lot going on.  This is the first year that I have not put up my tree, ever!  After looking at all yours out there in bloggy land, I really miss it!  I do have one of those thin woodland looking trees that I put in the family room.  It's decorated with lights and mitten garlands.  It's cute, but definitely not the same!  Of course, my children who poo-poo my decorating every year and tell me that it's way to much and NEVER want to help with the tree have all asked why I,  that's the key, WHY I, haven't put it up, even my son who is in England in the AF has asked!  Next year it will be back but that's along time to wait!  Here is a peek at some of the decorations I have put out.  Things are not exactly how I usually do them, but, this is what I could get to this year and these pics were taken before I was totally finished.

(Whoops! I forgot to put the candles on the deer's antlers!)

Sorry the pictures aren't better, I was in a hurry and there hasn't been time to redo them.

Glitter and Birds.......

Wow!  I don't know about you, but the weekend just flew by!  I didn't get as much done as I had hoped but did manage to squeeze some fun in!  Wanda and I went to Franklin, to the Mallllllll!  Lets see, was it crowded?  OH YEAH!  Did we manage to get into Pottery Barn, OH YEAH!  Was it as fabulous as always, OH YEAH!  I do so love that store, I could live there!  I was very excited to be able to get the little glittered birds they showed in their catalog.   They come 12 to a container and are so cute!  I'm going to put them on my vintage silver tree along with the white and silver ornaments I bought at Target last year after Christmas.  Most of my decorations are more on the rustic side but in my dinning room, I have my white ironstone and silver collections, pitchers, trophies, etc.,  that's where I indulge my need for a little glitter and white.   I will try to post a picture of it before the holidays are over.  In case you don't remember the birds  from a previous post.  here they are again!

Finally.......

I'm so excited! My good friend Brittany of Brittany's Cottage came over today and helped me give my blog a long overdue new look!  I really love it and hope you all like it.  The boots are my Aunt's who passed away quite a few years ago and the hat is one of my old riding hats.  When I was 16, I left my home in Southern CAL to go stay with my Aunt and Uncle outside of Chicago for the summer and learn how to ride at the barn where they kept their horse.  Needless to say, I had the best time of my life!  I spent every day working at the barn, taking care of the horses, cleaning tack, stalls, doing whatever was needed along with taking lessons.  It was a lot of hard, fun, rewarding work and I loved it.  (It didn't hurt that the owner's son was 2 years older and very good looking!)  I went from someone who was afraid to go into a stall with a horse (filled all the water buckets in the stalls with no horses,) to someone who could do about anything.  I learned to ride English, a little jumping and beginning dressage. It would become one of my passions.  I don't have a horse now and sorely miss it.  For some reason, I've been thinking about it a lot lately and would love to get back into it.  There is nothing better or more relaxing then getting on your horse, your best friend, and taking a long ride on a beautiful trail!

My Christmas Mantle...........

I just finished my shopping for my family in California! Now all I have to do is get it all wrapped and in the mail before it costs me a fortune to get it there by Christmas!  I have not done the decorating this year that I usually do because of being so busy getting ready for the store's last holiday open house and closing.  I kept my mantle very simple this year.  I used one of my old windows, garland and some corbels.  The Santa in the stocking I got last year from our floral guy at the store. One of the advantages of having your own store, you get first pick!  The Noel sign, I got this year at a show at the fairgrounds called the Gathering.

Lucked Out.......

I'm slowly moving along with my Christmas decorating and shopping, finally!  I knew what I wanted to get my Mom and sister but when I went on line last night, the catalog item was sold out! I almost had a heart attack because I had no other ideas for them.  What to do?  I pulled out my trusty Restoration Hardware catalog and called our local store in Green Hills and thankfully they had a few left!  I am getting them each a plush throw, and I mean plush! They are the softest, cuddliest ones ever!   I showed you them in a previous post, they are wonderful and very reasonably priced! The sales person I talked to was great, he got them ordered and sent!  He told me that when these were gone, there would be no more, very sad, they make great gifts. Hard to believe, but they are less expensive then Target and other similar places, only $29.00!  My sales guy told me that a customer had come in yesterday and bought 29!  I think I was pretty lucky to still get mine!  Here they are in case you didn't see them before.

Hope you are having good luck with your Christmas shopping!

Till next time......

A Little Sparkle........

First, I have to apologize for the fall header!  I am pretty computer illiterate and have to have a friend help me change it and we have not been able to get together yet.  Hopefully that will happen soon!
Since closing the store has taken up most of my time, I haven't been able to do much Christmas decorating yet so have been living vicariously through you all.  Even though most of my decorating is done with reds, greens, and browns, I do love the sparkle of silver and white.

Done.......For Now!

Whew!!!!  We are officially done! Thanks to all our loyal customers and friends, our final open house was a great success! Thank you for the all the support and well wishes!   Wanda and I spent all day and late into the evening Saturday and Sunday along with our dealers, moving out of the store.   Saturday, we still had customers coming in and  buying things as the dealers were packing up, pretty amazing!  For not being in business, we had a great sales day!  I have to admit, it's a little sad, but, we are ready for something new.  I wish I had thought to take  my camera to get some pictures of the chaos, but didn't.  To top it off, Sunday it was freezing and there were snow flurries all day, perfect moving weather, NOT!  So, what that means is, today, I have a sore throat, stuffed up head,  runny nose and cough!  Hopefully,  it won't get any worse!
We are all looking forward to moving into our new booth spaces in January and seeing the exciting changes the new owners have brought to "their new store!"

 Until then,

Don't I wish!
Now the race is on to get ready for Christmas!

Till next time.......

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Florida was a lot of fun but, a real quick trip.  Down Wednesday, spend Thursday with family, back on Friday!  We had lots of fabulous food, ate way to much, laughed all day, and even made it to the beach for a little while.  The weather was a sunny, warm 80 degrees and beautiful.  I forgot how blue the water is and how white the sand is! Today was spent getting things caught up around the house so, tomorrow, this is what I'm going to do! Get up in the morning and, ...

Thanksgiving Tablescapes........

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time of the year! Family, friends, good food, all make it a special time!  Our Thanksgiving this year is going to be spent in Florida with family.  We all don't get together often so this will be a lot of fun and, who doesn't want to go to Florida!  Since I won't be setting a Thanksgiving table this year, here is some Thanksgiving eye candy for me and you!

I would love for my family to sit down to any one of these beautiful tables !

Till next time,
Rebecca
