I'm so excited! My middle son Aaron just got home last night! He's been stationed in Lakenheath, England for the last year and a half. He got back to Raleigh, NC., Wednesday and was met at the airport by his dad, who was there on a business trip, perfect timing! For the rest of his tour, he will be stationed at Seymour Johnson AF base, outside Goldsboro NC. which is only about a 7 hr drive from here, a lot closer! While his dad finished up his business, they searched high and low for Aaron's dream truck, found it, purchased it, and then drove home, arriving here late yesterday afternoon! What was the first thing he wanted to do! Why, open his Xmas presents of course! I left up our decorations and had his presents in front of the fireplace. (I didn't put up our big tree this year, with the store closing in Dec and all, it was just to busy.) He was quite happy with everything "Santa" brought! I'm so glad he got to experience living in Europe, something a lot of us will never get to do. He also spent a month temporarily stationed right outside the capitol city of Iceland which he thoroughly enjoyed, he had the best time there! Some of the other places he got to travel to on leave were Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. What a lucky boy!
Here are a few of my favorite photos of him.
This is my favorite, taken by the base photographer, (there isn't any glare on my copy, don't know why it shows up here.) His job is crew chief on fighter jets.
I asked for one of him by one of their famous red phone booths.
Like the good son he is, here it is!
On his trip to Germany
A visit to Stone Henge
(What ever were they doing? At least that's a soda in his hand!)
With the Bobbies in London
At the big soccer game in London last weekend,
a few days before he left to come home
I couldn't resist showing you this one even though it was taken Xmas 2008.
Aaron on left, little sister Kate, now a college freshman, and big brother Chris. (Chris was still in Marines
at this time but has since finished his 5 year tour and is home.)
Till next time....
