Lucy Vacation........Florida

Well, we're here, arrived Saturday night.  It was an easy drive down, very relaxing.  Even though it's only our second day here, we've had quite the adventures!  After we checked in, Leslee, her 2 yr old grandson, Hayden, and I got in the elevator to go to our room, the door closed and then NOTHING!!!   We rang the emergency bell, NOTHING!  Banged on the door, NOTHING!  Repeated both those steps numerous times, NOTHING!
We finally found the phone and got the front desk.  It took 10 minutes for them to get it fixed and moving.  The only good thing was that we were stuck on the ground floor, otherwise, it might have produced a pretty ugly panic attack, of course, I'm talking 2 yr old, not cool, calm collected us!  Spent Sunday at the beach and pool, and it was beautiuful!  Of course, I'm sure you all are wondering, our first day out, were we sensible, did we use lots of sunscreen, sit in the shade, and take it slow?  Let's put it this way, what we thought we did and what happened are two different things, and the answer is YES we are RED! The good news is we do not look like raw meat, we will live!  Second day,  we were getting ready to go to beach and the fire alarm goes off and a voice comes over the speaker, "a fire has been detected in the building and everyone needs to evacuate"!   Leslee grabs Hayden, Jim grabs his coffee, I of course grab my camera and computer, makes sense right!  Hey, no one can say we don't know what's important!
Off we go with all the other guests squeezing down the stairwell to the bottom floor and out.  Luckily for us, we are on the 4th floor so not to bad!   The fire truck comes and we are out there for about 30 mins when we are finally told we can go back in and that it was a false alarm, someone pulled it!  Now, I ask you, is this starting out to be a Lucy and Ethel vacation or what!  Jim, Leslee's husband just shakes his head and goes with the flow.  He doesn't realize what he's in for and that our Vacation is just starting!  I haven't had a lot of time to get some photos so thought I'd start off showing you some of my favorite beach accessories I decorate with during the summer at home till I get some photos taken and downloaded.

Till next time......
Rebecca

  1. Oh my goodness--I am terrified at getting stuck on an elevator--that must have been a long 10 minutes. Thank goodness you were on the ground floor. Have fun!

  4. What a way to start a vacation. I am sure both incidents were quite scary for you, but thanks for a good laugh! Knowing it all turned out alright and the way you told it, too funny. Glad you are okay. We were in Kansas at a shooting tournement with many groups of 4-H kids when my daughter was young, and someone pulled the alarm. I was terrified. Hope you have quite and fun days to follow. You deserve them after this.

  5. Love that, definitely an adventurous holiday! (But very glad the fire alarm was a false alarm, and I would definitely have panicked in the elevator.)

I smiled in recognition with the "getting-red-on-the-first-day"-thing, it usually happens to me to.
