Bathing Beauty Style

Since TN is so far from the ocean and beach, instead of "beach girls", we consider ourselves "pool girls".  All stylish "'pool girls" need the proper attire to spend a lazy afternoon hangin' by the pool!  Of course, one must have a minimum of  two bathing suits cuz you all know it would be mortifying to be seen wearing the same one two days in a row!  Kailyn  has the required 2, (hoping for more,  can't say she won't pick up a least one more next time she's out shopping)!  For someone who's only 11 mos, she's quite picky about what she wears, (or, is that her Mom and Mimi)?  Just a little fashionista in training!  I can't believe she'll be a year old next month, time has flown by so fast!  We've had the best time hanging out together!  Of course, I think she's the best baby ever!

When she wants to feel "tropical" she wears her one shoulder Hawaiian print suit with large pink flowers and a polka dot ruffled neckline.

When she wants to feel a bit more glamorous, she wears this  hot pink number with a tutu ruffle and bow detail at the shoulder.

Seriously, what girl doesn't like ruffles and bows!

Yard Sale Finds......

The last 2 weekends have been the best yard sailing I've had in a long time! Finally there's been some without tons of cloths and toys that actually had some good stuff.   I lucked out and found some cool, CHEAP,  fun things!  I've really got to get on it with my 2 booths, they've gotten pretty sparse in the last couple of months and are in desperate need some tender "lovin" care!  Here are some of the  things that I brought home, much to the dismay of my children!   They don't get it but that's OK with me!  I'm not a hoarder, but yeah,  I Do WANT TO KEEP IT ALL!  I'm taking medication, (if only there was such a thing), for this problem and it is helping a little, some stuff actually does make it to my booths!  Here's a few pics of some of the things I got.

The guy I got this from said it was his grandfather's.  I'd love to keep  but it but I'm not a hoarder, I'm not a hoarder.........!
Paid $2.00

These vintage canisters aren't my style but I thought they were really cute .
They will go in the booth, paid $2.00

I love this equestrian style nut cracker, he'll go great with my collection!
I got all these things for $1.00.

Did you notice the little fox sitting by his feet?

This white tureen with lid and ladle was $2.00

This sweet little bunny box was 50 cents

This snowman pic was also  50 cents.
I'm Painting the frame, it's a keeper.

I'll show you the rest of my haul later.

Till next time......

Spring in the Cabinet

For those of you who visit often, I'm sure you've noticed my posting has slowed down.   Honestly, I was kind of obsessed there for awhile and I began losing the fun.  Since my health scare and Kailyn's arrival,   I've come to my senses,  (keep in mind, there are some who might debate that), but now I'm posting when I feel like it and the pressure's off and it is what it is which is, much better!  I'm taking care of Kailyn while Kate is in school which I love, doing things around the house, planning Kate's October wedding, (more on that later), and posting when I feel like it, much better for me!   I just realized Spring is almost over so I thought I'd better share my Spring decor before I put it away for summer!   Don't ask me why, but one of my first collections was carrots.  Kind of  weird when I think about it, but I  collected quite a few, even some blown glass Christmas "carrot" ornaments.   I like to pull them out with my bunnies for Spring.

Vintage Thingie....

Today I'm going to show you one of my favorite yard sale finds.  It's a little bit industrial, has wheels which I love and best of all, it was only $3.00!  That it's my favorite color of flaky green paint, just makes it that much better!  It's very narrow and has a wood top which was very light so I dry brushed it with a couple of different colors of paint and love the way it turned out.  I use it in my guest bath which is very small, narrow and serves as a pathway from the back entry  to the laundry room.  Since it is so narrow, this little "thing" fits perfectly against the wall and holds my old sewing machine drawers, (yardsale,$2.00) that I use as a magazine holder without hindering the flow between rooms.  So, good price, good size, interesting shape, great color, what more could I ask for!

PS.  I haven't posted any pics of Kailyn for a while, she's 9mos now and is trying to walk!  She's talking, er babbling up a storm, saying Mama, DaDa and of course the standard no no! Pretty exciting and scary at the same time!  You can't wait to see them grow but on the other hand, I want her to stay a baby just a little longer!  We are having so much fun with her, she's such a sweet, happy little girl.  I could go on and on, but won't, here's a few photos!  (whoops! got a little carried away)!!

Johnny or Paul......

While watching AMC last night, they showed  a commercial for their Saturday morning shows, one of which happened to be the old Rifleman show from the 60's starring Chuck Connors and Johnny Crawford which brought back a whole lot of memories.  This is where I admit that I was indeed, a teenager in the infamous 60's.  Back then, you were either a surfer or a hippie. Growing up in Southern CA, I was more beach chick then hippie but that's not to say I didn't wear "bell bottom" pants or "mini" skirts!  I'm getting off the subject a bit, the whole point is that back then,  you were either in "love" with  Johnny Crawford who starred in the western, The Rifleman or Paul Peterson who starred in The Donna Reed Show.   For me, it was Johnny all the way!  As I think about it now, Paul is more my style in looks but back then, Johnny just had that something that did it for me!  We never missed an episode of either show!
Johnny's character on the show was rugged,  (who doesn't look good in a tight pair of jeans and a cowboy hat),  hardworking, polite, always tried to do the right thing, could ride a horse, was kind of shy when it came to the girls, and, a all around good guy.
Paul, starred on the Donna Reed show which was more in our time.  He was a kakie pants and button up shirt kind of guy, which, don't get me wrong, is also very appealing.  His character was sweet in a goofy kind of way, always in and out of trouble, (nothing serious) with his Mom and Dad, often annoying to his big sister.   As he got older,  he was more into getting his driver's license, dating girls and hanging out, but also a good guy.
As both stars older, they put out records and were on the covers of all the in teen magazines at the time.  It's kind of interesting if you think about it, how different times were then, they never made headlines for drinking or drugs, never got arrested for drunk driving, never wore their pants down around their knees, and always wore their shirts.  Quite a change from the star antics of today.  So......for those of you who remember, which one made your heart throb, Johnny or Paul?
