Bell Rustica Barn Sale Part 1......

2 weeks ago there was a great barn show right outside Franklin, it was the first of hopefully many.  The setting was gorgeous, it was a lot of fun and there was a lot of great stuff!  There were dealers from here of course, as well as some from NC and Texas, there may have been others, but these are the ones I that I know for sure.

This booth was from Springfield, TN.

These are the delightful owners of the Shop

They were so fun to talk to and kindly invited me to come visit, can't wait!

They had a whole row of these doors from old summer cottages, $95.00 each

Time and Books.......

Books have always been a love of mine and I have a tendency to keep every one I've ever owned!  There are the ones I like to read, thrillers, some spooky Dean Koontz, lots of design books, and the ones I had as a child.  Then there are the vintage books I like to collect, because of the look of the cover, title, or color.  Now, my new favorite thing to collect is clocks with dark faces, looove them!  It doesn't matter if they work or not, I really like how they are all stopped at different times.  All my vintage books were under $5.00 each  and my clocks were under $10.00 each.

Clocks and books = time to read!

Fall has Fallen........

I've finally gotten my fall decorations out and up!  After experimenting quite a bit, the mantle is finally done to my liking.  I've gone pretty simple, no garland like usual but  sometimes you just need to change things up a bit and pare down!  I was so ready to be looking at something different!
OK, I tried it simpler and after looking at the photos, I am not happy, to plain, needs something else.  I'm going to put my fall garland back up and see how that works, it will definitely add a lot more color!  Will post another picture when I am done and happy with the results!

I use a window with a dark finish ($5.00) during the winter, the twig wreath is from Target on sale a few years ago, turkey feathers free, courtesy of my daughter's boyfriend, pumpkin sign found at a craft fair, the gathering in Nashville, dog figurene, on sale from the design store, that I worked at a few years ago, candlesticks, yard sale, $3.00 each.

Around the House........

This past week I've been (way) under the weather!  Most of it has been spent in the bed trying to recoup from whatever this is. It's not been fun and it's put me way behind in everything from housework to blogging!  Since I didn't get any new photos taken, I'm going to show some of my favorite things from around the house that I have saved, they are all thrifty treasures except for the quilt, but, since it was free, maybe that counts!  Hope to be up and running at full speed soon!

I love this tiny little riding hat, it was the start of a collection!

This little iron scottie was to cute to resist!

Picked this lock up at the flea

I got this quilt from my grandma's house after she passed away.  She used to let me and my cousins play with it, so glad it survived!  Don't know why I picked it up, I was 19 and not into anything back then.  Later, I had it appraised and was told it was late 1800's and that she had not seen this pattern before.  The closest she came up with was the possibility of  it being a pattern called George Washington's cherry tree.  Unfortunately, I have no idea where she got it.

Couldn't resist this little red drawer turned into a shelf, just right for my trophies!
Picked it up at a consignment shop.

Picked this primitive gold box at the same consignment shop.  I use it to hold the vintage 1960's  Old Miners Day buttons from  celebrations held every year in Big Bear CA,  where we spent a lot of time as teenagers  at my Aunt's cabin.

These are a few of my vintage tablecloths that I put out and use in the fall.

Roses and Rustics in Flea Market Style Mag......

I'm so excited for my friend Jane of the shop Roses and Rustics!  She has a photo and mention in the new Flea Market Style magazines article, shopping in Nashville on page 56!  We were very lucky to have her as  a dealer in our old store,  Walnut and Vine Antiques.  Her little shop in Nolensville recently celebrated it's 1st year anniversary and I am so happy for her!  She has fabulous taste and is also an amazing photographer.  If you are ever in the area, it's a must go!

Congratulation Jane!

Check out her blog, Roses and Rustics.com or it's listed under my favorites!
