Spring Mantle and Ralph Alert.......

I thought that I would give you a peek at my spring mantle since I will soon be changing it out for summer.
First, I put up one of my favorite old windows that I found in an alley and then layered a wood piece that one of the dealers in our store had brought in and was selling for $5.00.  It did not look like this when I got it and of course, I forgot to take a before photo so I  flipped it over to the back so you can get an idea of what it looked like before I painted it.  I finished it off with some of my favorite silver trophies, old books and some mercury candlesticks that I got on sale at Marshall's for $10.00 each and a white wreath.

This is my Spring Mantle.  The arched shutter was raw wood when I got it, this is it after it was painted, the photo below will give you a idea of what it looked like in it's "before" state.

I forgot to take a photo of the shutter before I painted it so I just flipped it over to give you a idea of what it looked like.

This is what it looked like after.

Finished Mantle!

By the Sea........

It's Thursday and our next to last day at the beach.  (Sad Face)!  We are having a blast.  The weather is perfect, sunny, high 80's with a cool breeze.   Mornings have been spent on the beach, afternoons by the pool.  What more could a girl ask for?  Oh yeah, homemade margaritas on the balcony every evening!  Delightful!  We've also been collecting lots of shells to bring home!

Lucy Vacation........Florida

Well, we're here, arrived Saturday night.  It was an easy drive down, very relaxing.  Even though it's only our second day here, we've had quite the adventures!  After we checked in, Leslee, her 2 yr old grandson, Hayden, and I got in the elevator to go to our room, the door closed and then NOTHING!!!   We rang the emergency bell, NOTHING!  Banged on the door, NOTHING!  Repeated both those steps numerous times, NOTHING!
We finally found the phone and got the front desk.  It took 10 minutes for them to get it fixed and moving.  The only good thing was that we were stuck on the ground floor, otherwise, it might have produced a pretty ugly panic attack, of course, I'm talking 2 yr old, not cool, calm collected us!  Spent Sunday at the beach and pool, and it was beautiuful!  Of course, I'm sure you all are wondering, our first day out, were we sensible, did we use lots of sunscreen, sit in the shade, and take it slow?  Let's put it this way, what we thought we did and what happened are two different things, and the answer is YES we are RED! The good news is we do not look like raw meat, we will live!  Second day,  we were getting ready to go to beach and the fire alarm goes off and a voice comes over the speaker, "a fire has been detected in the building and everyone needs to evacuate"!   Leslee grabs Hayden, Jim grabs his coffee, I of course grab my camera and computer, makes sense right!  Hey, no one can say we don't know what's important!
Off we go with all the other guests squeezing down the stairwell to the bottom floor and out.  Luckily for us, we are on the 4th floor so not to bad!   The fire truck comes and we are out there for about 30 mins when we are finally told we can go back in and that it was a false alarm, someone pulled it!  Now, I ask you, is this starting out to be a Lucy and Ethel vacation or what!  Jim, Leslee's husband just shakes his head and goes with the flow.  He doesn't realize what he's in for and that our Vacation is just starting!  I haven't had a lot of time to get some photos so thought I'd start off showing you some of my favorite beach accessories I decorate with during the summer at home till I get some photos taken and downloaded.

Road Trip........

I've been invited by one of my best friends and her husband to spend this coming week with them at a condo they've rented in Pompano Beach Florida!  We are leaving today and will be back next Sunday.  It will
be a lot of fun to explore someplace new!  I am so ready for some sun, sand and fun!  I don't know if I will have computer access or not so I may not be able to keep up with you all till we get back.  I 'm taking my computer and camera so if I can get on, I'll  keep you updated on our adventures!  If not, see you all when I get back!

Queen of the Roost......

Let me introduce you to the ruler of our household!  Her name is Jenny and she's 8 years old.  She is very persnickety and doesn't give her affections lightly.  For the longest time she would have nothing to do with anyone other than Kate, (8 years to be exact) we were snubbed on a continual basis,  only paid attention to if the "bowl" was empty.   If she  even thought one of us was going to "touch" her, what we got for our efforts was a long hiss and a turn of the head.  When Kate moved out and was unable to take her, boy did things change!  She found out in a hurry which side her bread was buttered on!  It was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, only the "nice" side came out, she loves, well maybe I won't go that far, but likes us all!  It has taken Kate a little bit of time to get over the fact that she is no longer the center of "Jenny's World"!  Kate has just moved back in and we are all keeping our fingers crossed that Jen won't "turn" on us and that "Mrs. Hyde" is gone for good!

I am linking up to DebbieDoos Pet Party today stop by and check out all the furrie babies!

Notice the giraffe? When we brought her home as a kitten, we gave her this to keep her company.
Till this day, she carries it everywhere, needless to say, we have found it in some very strange places!
