The time finally arrived, my Air Force boy left for Afghanistan! I know he will be fine, it's just a little sad and a little scary cuz you never know what will happen. I feel really confident that he will be fine since he will more then likely never leave the base, which is one of the largest ones over there. His first stop was Spain for a couple of days to get his jets off and on their way there, then his group followed. His job is crew chief on the fighter jets which means he over sees that all the work that needs to be done on the jets is properly completed before the pilots take off. He should be back safe and sound in about 7 months and then he will only have about 3 months before he is out and home for good!
Here are some of my favorite photos of him

God bless your son while he's away. (Is your other son still on active duty as well?)
Your son will be in my thoughts and prayers. I love how you are staying so positive. He really is a handsome young guy...your whole family is lovely! Take care, Rebecca!

As a mom too, I can understand why you would feel some concern, but you must also be so very proud of him!
What a lovely family you have!
Will pray for his safety Rebecca. I know you are very proud of him.

Please thank him for the rest of us.
You have a beautiful family Rebecca. I can only imagine the emotion you are feeling right now. I will pray for God's protection and peace.
Great pics of a beautiful family. Please thank your son for his service. My husband is a retired Marine. And, thank you for your kind and witty post about my Fall kitchen. Have a great day!
I'll be thinking of him (and you) until he returns safely home. I know you must be one proud mama! xo
Rebecca you have some good looking kids!
How lucky was he to stop in Spain. Last time my husband went they stopped in Ireland, he said it was beautiful. This time they just went straight there. I will pray that he comes home safe.
Have a good day!
